One of the biggest challenges a company may face is a lack of communication. Unfortunately, without honest, respectful, constructive communication between managers and their team members, companies can sometimes self-implode. As a leader, you must strive each and every day to keep your team members on a positive communication level.

This video tutorial is aimed at taking on the perspective of a manager or team leader. As a leader within your company, you are given the task to keep everyone on the same page. This means making sure that your team members have a full understanding of their priorities and expectations, and are providing regular updates. Clear communication within your company should be one of the highest priorities, and as a result, will help make you and your team more efficient.

We believe there are nine fundamental habits that provide a good framework for managing your team. We’ll lay out all these fundamentals and then go back through each one of them and give a practical use of Callibrain for each one.

  • First, we believe it is good practice to have a weekly or bi-weekly one-on-one meeting between you and each member of your team.
  • Second, daily huddles for your team are very useful and help keep everyone up to speed on what’s happening.
  • Third, make sure to have an open door policy and that you are always approachable.
  • Fourth, have an off site strategic meeting with your team once a quarter or bi-yearly. This helps everybody know what the long term goals are for the team.
  • Fifth, make sure to teach team members to bring good news fast, but bad news faster. If team members live in fear of bringing bad news, it will be detrimental to the productivity of your company.
  • Sixth, understand and conduct risk assessments on all your initiatives when creating them.
  • Seventh, use metrics to help keep a trackable list of all measurable items.
  • Eighth, always think win-win. Offer incentives on big projects to get the most out of your team members. And if someone has done a great job, praise and reward that individual.
  • Lastly, the best way to get your team members to buy into all these new practices, is to lead by example.
